Portrait #6 – Born and raised in Chicago, Atorena visited her parents’ homeland for the first time in 2011, on one of the first trips organized by Gishru. After visiting a few more times, she decided to settle down in Duhok with her husband and two young boys, a courageous and well-considered decision.
