Artwork from Iraq Featured at Shared Stories Art Expo 2026 in Australia

Artwork by local artist and architect Basma Bazzoee is being featured at the Shared Stories Art Expo 2026, organized by Tawasul Foundation in Australia on Sunday, June 21st.

Following Basma’s exhibition at The Space in Ankawa, a selection of her artwork has been included in the Shared Stories Art Expo 2026, organized by Tawasul Foundation in partnership with the Department of Premier and Cabinet of the state government of Victoria. The exhibition is being held at the main hall of St George Chaldean Catholic Church in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, under the theme Harmony Through Giving Back and coincides with International Refugee Week.

For The Return, this participation reflects the ongoing connection between our communities in Iraq and across the diaspora. While many members of our diaspora remain deeply attached to their homeland, artists, professionals, and young people in Iraq continue to contribute to the cultural life of their communities.

Tawasul Foundation’s initiative provides a platform for artists from diverse backgrounds to share their work and experiences with a wider audience. The Return welcomes such initiatives and looks forward to further cooperation with diaspora organizations.
